A topping-out ceremony is a construction milestone that signifies the completion of a building’s highest point. For BBM Structural, it represents the culmination of months of meticulous planning, design, and engineering.

St. Johns County School District

BBM Structural’s team, led by Associate Ariel Neris and Construction Manager Mark Matzinger, recently celebrated the topping-out of a new K-8 school in St. Johns County. This modern 104,435-square-foot facility, designed by Harvard Jolly Architects and constructed by Wharton-Smith, will accommodate 1,122 students. The school’s innovative house-concept design with movable walls will provide a flexible and engaging learning environment.

Flagler Schools

BBM Structural’s team, including Partner Luis Bedoya, Project Engineer Austin Scott, BIM Technician Aslyn Banegas, and Associate Karen Petersen, celebrated the topping-out of a new elementary school in Flagler County. This $21 million project, designed by SchenkelShultz Architects and constructed by Ajax Construction, is based on the “Emma Taylor Concept.” The new school will be built on the site of the original 1878 school, preserving its historical significance while incorporating modern amenities.

Impressively, the Flagler County project was constructed while the existing school remained fully operational. This required careful planning and coordination to minimize disruption to students and staff.
