BBM is Keeping Pace with Industry Advancements Through Ongoing Education

In structural engineering, learning does not stop after earning a degree or obtaining a professional license. New products, installation methods, building technologies, and industry best practices continue to evolve, making ongoing education an important part of delivering quality solutions to clients.

Earlier this year, BBM team members Maggie Kirk, PE, Project Manager, and Charles Thornton, Project Engineer, attended the “Sippin’ with Simpson” Engineering Road Show hosted by Simpson Strong-Tie in Orlando. The educational event brought together engineering and construction professionals for technical presentations focused on emerging products, installation techniques, and practical applications used throughout the industry. The program also provided participants with 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDH) toward their continuing education requirements.

Topics covered included Quik Drive auto-feed collated screw systems, helical wall and stitching ties, crack injection techniques, and concrete anchoring systems. These products and solutions play an important role in the design, repair, and strengthening of structures across a wide range of project types.

While technical knowledge is a key component of structural engineering, events like these also provide an opportunity to connect with manufacturers, contractors, and fellow industry professionals. Those conversations help bridge the gap between design and construction, giving engineers a deeper understanding of how products perform in the field and how innovations can be applied to future projects. At BBM, continuing education is viewed as an investment in both our team and our clients. By staying informed about new technologies, evolving construction practices, and industry advancements, our engineers are better equipped to deliver practical, efficient, and informed solutions.

We are proud of Maggie and Charles for representing BBM and continuing to pursue opportunities that strengthen their technical expertise and professional growth while supporting our firm’s goals.
