BBM Celebrates the Opening of a Valuable Asset to Education for the City of Orlando

Orange Technical College West Campus is officially open, and BBM Structural is thrilled. As the structural engineer for this innovative project, we played a crucial role in ensuring the safety, durability, and functionality of the new facility.

Orange Technical College (OTC) is a premier Career Tech Education institution that bridges the gap between K-12 learning and career readiness. The new West Campus, a state-of-the-art facility built on a 37-acre Greenfield site, sets a new design standard for modern-day technical education.

We were privileged to attend the topping-out ceremony earlier this year, a significant milestone that marked the completion of the building’s structural framework. It is incredibly gratifying to see this project come to fruition and to know that students will now have access to a world-class learning environment.

Designed by DLR Group, the West Campus incorporates various features that enhance the student experience. The campus layout fosters collaboration and interaction between students and faculty, with a central student commons and courtyard that serves as a hub for social and academic activities. The design also includes amenities that cater to the needs of second-shift learners and provide ample outdoor learning spaces, such as a construction build yard and a dedicated build pad.

One of the West Campus’s most notable aspects is its focus on industry-partner engagement. The facility features authentic apprenticeship labs designed to support students at every stage of their certification process. This hands-on approach ensures that graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen careers.

As structural engineers, the BBM team is deeply committed to supporting the educational endeavors of our Floridan neighbors. We are confident that the Orange Technical College West Campus will be a valuable asset to the community for years to come. See more of the project here.
