11 Sep Marking a Milestone: Groundbreaking on a Center of Excellence for Developmental Disabilities
BBM Structural Engineering is thrilled to announce the groundbreaking of the Quest Therapy Center & Academy in Orlando, Florida. As the structural engineer for this essential community project, we are proud to be a part of creating a facility that will significantly impact the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.
Led by the talented architects at Schenkel Shultz, the new Quest Therapy Center & Academy is a testament to Quest, Inc.’s unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care and education. This 16,070-square-foot facility, located at 1509 E. Colonial Drive, will provide the community impacted by Autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, learning delays, and related disabilities.
The project involves a strategic renovation of an existing building, transforming it into a modern and accessible space. Key design features include:
- The facility will feature expansive windows to maximize natural light and connect with the outdoors.
- A bi-level break space will offer views of the bustling Colonial Drive corridor.
- The design will include purpose-filled spaces, such as collaborative hubs, outdoor zones, and high- and low-stimulus areas.
- Sensory zoning will support transitional calming zones and create a predictable environment.
Beyond its functional aspects, the Quest Therapy Center & Academy will also significantly contribute to the revitalization of the Colonial Drive area. The project includes plans for murals and super graphics on the vertical retaining wall, which will create a playful and distinct brand identity and bring a sense of renewal and optimism to the community.
As the structural engineer, BBM is dedicated to ensuring the safety, durability, and functionality of this transformative project. We are excited to see this vision come to life and look forward to its positive impact on the community.
