Community Impact: Mentoring Our Future Industry Professionals

Mentorship is a powerful tool for organizations and the students they prepare for a strong future. For that reason, BBM Structural was honored to participate in and sponsor the 2024 ACE Mentor Program Scholarship Banquet held on Friday, May 17. As a Silver Sponsor, $500 of BBM’s contribution will go towards a scholarship in the firm’s name, supporting the future of aspiring professionals in the architecture, construction, and engineering fields.

Principal Luis Bedoya, PE Maggie Kirk, and EI Caroline Wells represented BBM at the event, demonstrating the firm’s commitment to fostering the next generation of industry leaders. Luis Bedoya, a Partner at BBM, is actively involved in the ACE Mentor Program, which provides high school students in Central Florida with invaluable exposure to career opportunities in architecture, construction, engineering, and related fields.

The ACE Mentor Program, now in its 14th year, thrives thanks to the substantial support from the local design and construction community. Student teams collaborate with professionals from leading area firms at bi-weekly meetings every other Wednesday from 6-8 PM. These mentors volunteer their time to guide students through the design of hypothetical projects, tours of local construction sites, and visits to architectural, engineering, and construction offices.

This program is a unique chance for students to develop new skills, clarify future goals, and embark on promising career paths. Many participants also form lasting relationships with industry professionals, gaining crucial references for college admissions, scholarships, internships, and full-time employment.

BBM Structural is proud to support this impactful program and looks forward to continuing its partnership with the ACE Mentor Program to inspire and prepare the future leaders of our industry.
