20 Oct The Villages Charter High School Earns National Recognition from Learning By Design
BBM Structural is proud to celebrate the national recognition awarded to The Villages Charter High School – South Campus, a project that continues to set a high standard for educational design and construction. The project, designed by Schenkel Shultz, received an Outstanding Project Award in Learning By Design Magazine’s Fall 2025 Architecture and Interior Design Awards of Excellence. This honor recognizes facilities that demonstrate innovation, performance, and forward-thinking approaches to learning environments—and identifies projects that serve as benchmarks for future educational development nationwide.

Located in Middleton, Florida, The Villages Charter High School South Campus was recognized for its thoughtful integration of next-generation learning space design and planning methodologies. The facility reflects a modern approach to education—one that supports flexibility, collaboration, and connection while maintaining durability, efficiency, and long-term operational value. The award jury cited the project’s built environment as “worthy of replication” by educators, designers, and professionals responsible for planning and operating learning spaces. From light-filled interior volumes and adaptable classroom layouts to communal spaces that encourage interaction and engagement, the campus reflects a learning-centered design philosophy supported by precise execution in the field.
BBM Structural was honored to contribute to the successful delivery of this project, working in close coordination with Schenkel Shultz and the broader project team. Educational facilities demand a high level of coordination, sequencing, and quality control—particularly when architectural expression, structural performance, and occupant experience must align seamlessly. This project exemplifies what can be achieved when design intent and construction expertise are fully aligned. The South Campus spans a large-scale educational environment designed to serve a growing student population while remaining flexible enough to evolve alongside changing instructional needs. Structural systems were carefully executed to support expansive interior spaces, daylighting strategies, and long-term resilience—ensuring the campus will serve students, educators, and the surrounding community for decades to come.

Recognition from Learning By Design Magazine places The Villages Charter High School among a select group of projects shaping the future of education design across the country. For BBM Structural, the award reinforces our commitment to building environments that go beyond code compliance and schedule milestones—spaces that actively support how people learn, gather, and grow. We congratulate Schenkel Shultz on this well-earned national recognition and extend our appreciation to all project partners involved in bringing this campus to life. We are proud to have played a role in a project that now stands as a model for educational excellence.
