14 Aug Marking a Milestone: Furthering STEM Education for Florida POLY Students
BBM Structural was thrilled to participate in the topping-out ceremony for the new state-of-the-art Gary C. Wendt Engineering Building at Florida Polytechnic University in Lakeland, Florida. Joining forces with DLR Group and the construction firm of CPPI, BBM played a vital role in the structural engineering of this impressive facility.
BBM’s associate and director of marketing and business development, Karen Petersen, project engineer Maggie Kirk, project technician Eddie Rodriguez, and intern Felipe Pereira represented the company at this significant milestone in the construction of this $15 million, 40,000-square-foot building, set to be completed in spring 2025. The new facility, named in honor of generous donor and former University Trustee Gary C. Wendt, will house research and development labs, faculty offices, collaboration spaces, and a conference room.
This project holds special significance for BBM, underscoring our commitment to supporting STEM education in Florida. The Gary C. Wendt Engineering Building will provide students with cutting-edge facilities to learn, innovate, and prepare for successful careers in engineering. We are proud to be part of a team building a brighter future for Florida’s engineering talent.
In addition to participating in the ceremony, we had the honor of signing the last beam alongside our friends at DLR Group, following the topping-out tradition. We’ve included a video showcasing the placement of the last beam for your viewing pleasure.
As a leading structural engineering firm committed to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for our clients, BBM Structural continues to focus on successful collaborations and excellence in design. We are proud to be a part of this remarkable project and look forward to seeing its positive impact on Florida’s STEM education landscape.
