14 Aug Lake Worth Self Storage Earns Florida Green Certification
The Lake Worth Self Storage facility has been officially certified as a “Florida Green” Commercial Building by the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC). The project earned 129 points, achieving bronze-level certification for its environmentally responsible design, construction methods, and operational considerations.
BBM Structural served as the structural engineer for this four-story, 99,000-square-foot facility, designed by Kenneth R. Carlson, Architect, P.A., and constructed by Nolan Construction Co. The structural system features steel beam framing with concrete composite slabs on a 10′ x 10′ grid, supported by a mat slab foundation and perimeter shallow footings. BBM’s tilt-up wall design helped streamline construction, reduce material waste, and contribute to energy efficiency goals.
This certification reflects the strength of coordinated project delivery—where structure, design, and construction work together to reduce environmental impact and improve long-term performance. BBM’s structural solutions emphasize durability and buildability while supporting broader sustainability goals. Our engineering approach ensures that safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility are aligned—not competing priorities.
Lake Worth Self Storage also joins a growing list of successful collaborations with Kenneth R. Carlson, Architect, whose work was recently recognized with three 2025 Tilt-Up Achievement Awards. These projects demonstrate that high-performance tilt-up construction can deliver more than speed and strength—it can support architectural intent and sustainable outcomes when paired with a thoughtful structural strategy.
We’re grateful to have worked alongside a team that values quality, performance, and sustainability at every stage of the process. Congratulations to all involved for setting a high bar—and for showing that strong buildings can also support a greener future.
