09 Feb In the News: BBM’s YMCA Project Is Recognized in the Press!
BBM Structural is thrilled to share that our beautiful Leonard & Marjorie Williams Family YMCA project, designed by RLF Architects, was selected to be showcased on the cover of the Winter 2024 edition of AIA Orlando’s Florida/Caribbean magazine. For this issue, the publication focused on featuring “recreational projects where people play, as well as projects showcasing architects and their unique, creative ability to transform ordinary, mundane structures and spaces into aesthetically pleasing, sustainable works of art while simultaneously preserving function.”
The Leonard & Marjorie Williams Family YMCA stands as a pivotal component of Orlando’s historic Packing District redevelopment. Once the hub of the citrus industry, the area has undergone a transformation, with Dr. Phillips Charities spearheading the revival. With a focus on community wellness, the YMCA offers just under 30,849 GSF square feet of space, featuring a versatile layout designed to accommodate future expansion. The facility includes a spacious gymnasium, locker rooms, multipurpose rooms, and dedicated spaces for healthcare partners. Designed with flexibility in mind, the YMCA aligns with the foundation’s commitment to fostering community health and vitality. BBM Structural was thrilled to apply its vetted structural engineering expertise, including our Tilt-up construction mastery, in bringing this project to life.
Congratulations to Steven Langston and his RLF team for this acknowledgment; we look forward to more collaborations with your designers.
