15 Jul Community Impact: Building a Haven to Heal
Addressing our emotional and mental health is critical to our communities’ overall wellness. BBM Structural is committed to more than our blueprints and construction sites. While our structural engineering expertise benefits the community practically, we also contribute with our hearts to causes that touch the very fabric of communities and their well-being. A recent project that pulls at our core was our involvement with the Heartland Haven Foundation.
On one of June’s hottest days, BBM Structural teamed up with industry partners and good friends at VMG Construction and Prestige Contracting Co. to build stables for the Heartland Haven Foundation. This worthwhile cause saw our team, alongside Jim Coschignano from Prestige, design and construct stables for the foundation’s resident horses. VMG and Prestige generously donated the necessary supplies while we rolled up our sleeves to bring the project to life.
About Heartland Haven Foundation
Founded in 2022 by Angela Jackson, a certified Equus Life Coach, Heartland Haven Foundation, Inc. (HHF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Angela established this foundation to offer Equine-Assisted Therapy and equus coaching to those who might not have the means to obtain therapy support otherwise. The program includes individuals facing personal, emotional, and mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, cancer support, and grief counseling.
The Magic of Equine-Assisted Therapy
Using rescued and retrained horses, HHF helps individuals achieve personal growth and self-discovery. The therapeutic approach leverages horses’ natural ability to act as catalysts for emotional growth and learning. Research shows that the mere presence of a horse can induce feelings of well-being, peace, and reduced stress, anger, and anxiety. Horses help participants see themselves more clearly, achieving breakthroughs and enlightenment in a fraction of the time it might take traditional talk therapy.
Given the high cost of Equine Assisted Therapy due to the expense of horse care and rehabilitation, it may not be attainable for everyone. HHF aims to change that by reaching out to individuals from all walks of life and offering inclusive and diverse support.
All our team members at BBM Structural aim to contribute individually to improving our social environment. So, we were honored as a team to support such an impactful cause and such a stellar hero like Angela, reinforcing our commitment to enhancing the communities we serve through our professional expertise and heartfelt contributions. We look forward to continuing to explore ways that we can provide structure to the lives of our neighbors and friends.
