BBM Structural’s “Sweet Success” at the 2024 AIA Orlando Conference

BBM Structural recently participated in the 2024 AIA Orlando Conference & Expo at the DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando Downtown. This annual event is a premier gathering for architecture, engineering, and construction professionals, offering a unique opportunity to network, learn, and explore the latest industry trends.

The AIA Orlando Conference & Expo allowed attendees to select from various courses and earn several Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in one convenient setting. These courses covered multiple topics, from emerging technologies to sustainable design practices. The Annual Expo showcased leading industry suppliers’ latest products, innovations, and services. Attendees discovered new tools and technologies that can enhance their work and improve project outcomes.

At our booth, our team, including President Bora Erbilen, Associates Ariel Neris, Nathan Morrow, and Karen Petersen, and Senior BIM Technician Nate Mittag, had the pleasure of engaging with both industry colleagues and friends as well as with aspiring students. We shared our expertise on structural engineering and its vital role in the design and construction process.

Some of the key insights we shared with both attendees and students included:

  • The importance of collaboration between architects and structural engineers: We emphasized the need for open communication and a shared vision to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Advancements in structural engineering technology: We discussed how innovative tools and techniques, such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), are transforming the industry.
  • Sustainability and green building practices: We highlighted our commitment to designing sustainable structures that minimize environmental impact.
  • The role of structural engineering in disaster resilience: We explored how structural engineering can contribute to building structures that are resistant to natural hazards.

In addition to our discussions, we also offered our booth visitors a special and popular treat: delicious Christie’s Cakesicles, which added a touch of sweetness to the experience.

We were delighted to reconnect with our longtime industry partners and friends, fostering valuable relationships and exploring new opportunities for collaboration. Engaging with students and sharing our passion for structural engineering was also key in our participation, inspiring the next generation of A/E/C professionals.

We had a wonderful time at the AIA Orlando Conference & Expo and are eagerly anticipating future opportunities to connect with industry professionals and contribute to the A/E/C community, igniting the same eagerness in our audience.
