Location:
Winter Park, FL
Project Scope:
BBM Structural provided structural engineering services for the redevelopment of Elbert Elementary School, a comprehensive project that includes new construction and the renovation of existing campus buildings.
The new classroom building was constructed using tilt-up concrete wall panels, a cost-effective and durable method well suited to the project’s scale, schedule, and long-term performance goals. BBM’s expertise in tilt-up engineering ensured efficient panel design, proper integration with structural and architectural systems, and long-term resilience for educational use.
The overall scope includes structural design for new educational spaces—classrooms, science labs, and support facilities—as well as evaluation and upgrades to existing buildings on the site. The new campus increases capacity to 700 students, replacing aging infrastructure from the original 60-year-old facility.
In addition to academic spaces, the project includes new playgrounds and shared-use areas, with structural systems designed to support daily use and community access.
This $50 million campus modernization was made possible through local impact fees and Polk County’s half-cent sales tax initiative.
