From Awards to Mock-Ups: BBM at the 2025 Tilt-Up Expo

BBM Structural recently attended the 2025 Tilt-Up Convention & Expo, held in Nashville, Tennessee, bringing together industry leaders to explore the future of tilt-up design, construction, and collaboration. As a firm with deep roots in tilt-up engineering, BBM was proud to contribute to the event’s success both on and off the exhibit floor.

Principal Luis Bedoya, PE, and Sr. Project Engineer & Quality Control, Cahit Ogunc, PE, attended on behalf of BBM. Luis also took part in one of the convention’s most hands-on and innovative sessions: the 2025 Mock-Up Medley: Battle of the Builders, part of the Demo Experience series. This year’s theme, Striking Harmony, challenged cross-disciplinary teams to push the boundaries of tilt-up as both a building system and an architectural language.

Luis participated as a member of Team Air-Tilt, alongside Rodney Meerman of VMG Construction and Eric Kleinsteuber of KMF Architects. Together, their team collaborated on a mock-up that investigated detailing, material relationships, and form—showing how engineers, architects, and builders can converge to elevate design and performance through shared creativity and problem-solving. These mock-ups were more than demonstrations but were thoughtful propositions about the future of tilt-up as an expressive and adaptable medium.

This year’s convention was particularly special for BBM. Three of our tilt-up storage projects were formally recognized as 2025 Tilt-Up Achievement Award winners, an honor that reinforces our ongoing leadership in storage facility design and tilt-up innovation. You can read more about those award-winning projects here.

BBM was also recognized as a milestone member of the Tilt-Up Concrete Association, marking 20 years of active involvement with the organization. It’s a milestone that speaks to our long-standing commitment to advancing best practices, sharing knowledge, and contributing to the evolution of tilt-up construction nationwide.

Outside of the sessions and mock-ups, our team enjoyed connecting with colleagues, exploring new technologies transforming the built environment, and immersing themselves in the energy of Nashville.

As always, we left the convention inspired by the people, projects, and progress that continue to shape our industry—and we’re proud to be part of a network that values both technical excellence and creative exploration.
