17 Dec BBM Structural: Building a Year of Success
2024 was a year of significant achievements for BBM Structural. The firm solidified its position as a leading structural engineering force in Florida through groundbreaking projects, industry partnerships, community engagement, and team milestones.
Building on a Strong Foundation
At BBM Structural, we continued our commitment to diverse projects, completing landmark facilities like the Volusia County Medical Examiner’s Building, the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the impressive Orlando Technical College East Workforce Facility. These projects not only showcase our technical prowess but also contribute significantly to the communities they serve, a source of pride for our entire team.
Our focus on education has always been central to BBM’s portfolio. The firm played a vital role in shaping educational spaces, from high schools like Blackburn Elementary and Fruitland Park Elementary to the state-of-the-art Orange Technical College West Campus.
In 2024, our hard work went beyond the drawing room. BBM actively participated in events like the AIA Orlando Design Awards Gala, HKS Architects Golf Tournament, and the Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools’ Golf FORE Education Tournament, demonstrating our commitment to industry collaboration and giving back to the community.
Investing in the Future
As a firm that has always been at the forefront of technology in our industry, we embraced cutting-edge technologies this year. Early in 2024, we enjoyed participating in a study that tested virtual reality for potential use in structural engineering. As the year progressed, we continued seeking new ways to implement these and other technological advances.
Beyond project delivery, BBM focused this year on fostering a culture of excellence within the company. This goal was highlighted by how our firm prioritized professional development opportunities for its staff, exemplified by participation in the Autodesk University 2024 conference.
Leadership in action plays a significant role in a firm’s success. BBM President Bora Erbilen actively contributed to community initiatives like the American Heart Association and Breast Cancer Awareness. Partner Luis Bedoya joined the Heartland Haven Foundation board and supported the SkillsUSA Regional Drafting Competition, helping support the industry’s future. These are just a few examples of our leadership solidifying the firm’s dedication to social responsibility.
Celebrating Achievements
It was an exciting year for many of our projects, which received Industry Recognition for various elements. The Leonard & Marjorie Williams Family YMCA project graced the cover of the Winter 2024 edition of Florida/Caribbean Architect magazine. Our firm also received recognition for its outstanding work at the AIA Orlando 2024 Design Awards Gala, where three of our projects received prizes for architectural excellence.
Our team loves to play as hard as we work and take moments to enjoy the fruits of our labor as a united team. From soccer games to bowling for a cause to celebrating our furry friends and dressing up for a spooky competition, BBM enjoys the moments we have together where we enrich our professional relationships by solidifying our bonds. To close out the year, BBM commemorated its 40th anniversary with a celebratory event at Topgolf Lake Mary, acknowledging the dedication of its past and current members throughout the years.
Looking ahead, BBM Structural remains dedicated to delivering exceptional structural engineering solutions, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence, and contributing positively to the communities it serves. We can’t wait to see what 2025 will bring.
