BBM Structural Engineers, Inc. seeks Project Engineer for Maitland, FL office.

Requires a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering with 2 years experience in structural engineering and analysis of building structures, steel structural systems, steel design codes / standards, and Building Information Modeling (BIM).

Job Duties: 

• Structural engineering and analysis of building structures (such as industrial, educational, commercial, and/or healthcare)
• Assist project managers in developing projects through schematic design, design development, and construction documents in structural analysis of building structures of varying complexity using three-dimensional computer finite element design software (RAM or similar) and/or hand calculations (Tedds, Microsoft Excel, and Word).
• Review Building Information Modeling (BIM) and coordinate project sections and details with architects.
• Design steel structural systems, steel design codes, standards, and connections with use of computer design software and/or hand calculations.
• Recommend necessary changes to plans, provide shop drawing reviews, and respond to Requests For Information (RFIs). During the construction phase, some of the projects require providing responses or resolutions to the RFIs submitted by the contractor. This also involves visiting the construction site several times to ensure there is no delay in construction and any conflicts are resolved as soon as possible.
• Assist Construction Administration staff in field activities, including structural observations, monitoring, and other fieldwork. Writing technical reports based on the findings after every site observation following a specific format outlining any deficiencies in the structure and any recommended repairs.
